TOUCH season is quickly approaching now that the Footy season is heading into the FINALS SERIES.

Have you upgraded last years Touch Footwear?

Trainings & weekend fun sessions are coming up too – how do your legs, feet and ankles feel after the tough 20-40minute games?

Are you warming up – cooling down?

Stretching and prepping your body for competitive sports, coz lets face it … Everyone thinks they can STEP like Benji!

As the warmer season approaches, here some tips for those taking up the summer sports.

Footwear:

  • Get some good shoes that are right for your feet – Don’t get the cheap ones! Your body is not cheap to repair. Pay a little extra to enjoy the season longer with your mates.
  • If you’re getting pain in your feet or lower limbs in general after trainings or weekend games, it might pay to visit your friendly Podiatrist at Sole Motion Podiatry for an assessment. Just ask for Justin – the smiley guy!
  • Make sure the moulded soles with cleats are no longer than 13mm as studs are not permitted. Besides, the grounds will push the studs through the soles, lol
  • If you have Achilles issues and finding that a heel raise doesn’t work, it may be because you have tight muscles, in which a sports massage session wouldn’t hurt either. Lucky for you, I’m a Sports Massage Therapist & offer that service also.
  • Sometimes the coolest looking shoes, won’t make you the coolest looking player, but if you pop down to The Athletes Foot, they’ll be able to assist with getting you into the right shoes

Fluids:

  • Daylight savings is upon us in 4 weeks time. So too will the need to keep up your fluid intake as the heat stays longer in the day. Keep hydrated by having regular intervals through the subs box.
  • Don’t be the greedy guy that hogs the whole game. The sub box is for hydration, recovery & encouragement of your team.

Sun Protection:

  • As the sun blazes down on the body, so too will be the need to protect it from its harsh rays.

Be smart; wear a hat to protect from the sun & sunscreen to protect the skin. Light clothing for breathability and it wont restrict movement when diving for the line.

All in all, have a great season with friends and family. Bit of touch, beach, bbq’s … just like home!
