Why You’re Not Recovering From Your Injury As Quickly As You Could Be

Getting injured causes so much more than just physical pain. It’s frustrating, it stops you from doing the things you enjoy, and even impacts your ability to do daily tasks with ease. It comes as no surprise that the three main questions people have when they come to see us about their injury are:

  1. What happened?
  2. How do I fix it?
  3. How long will it take to get better?

While all effective treatment must focus on the ‘what happened’, to reduce the likelihood that it won’t happen again in the future, today we’d like to highlight the specific way that we address the latter two questions and get your injury fixed in the shortest time we’ve had the privilege to see in our years of musculoskeletal treatments.

What your recovery has been missing: Laser treatment

Otherwise known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) uses lasers to help heal your injuries and get you back to your active and healthy self. With laser, you’ll start my noticing that:

  • Your pain is decreasing
  • Your swelling is decreasing
  • Your muscles are feeling less stiff and tired

While you’re feeling this, the effects of the laser are increasing the rate of repair of damaged muscles, tissues and wounds. If this sounds too good to be true, don’t worry. We initially thought the same. Then we read the clinical evidence, which includes over 400 published trials. These have shown LLLT to:

  • Be more effective than anti-inflammatory medication
  • Produce an analgesic effect to reduce pain
  • Improve the rate of healing (up to 70% as shown by some studies when looking at healing chronic tendinopathies – think along the lines of the achilles tendon)

We love the results that we’re able to achieve for our patients using laser, and it is the exact reason why you’re not recovering from injury as quickly as you can be. Traditional methods can take months depending on the severity of your injury to get back to your fully functional self. Laser allows us to achieve the same results in a shorter time span.

What injuries are suitable for laser treatment?

If you’ve got musculoskeletal pain or damage – that is, pain or injury to the muscles or tissues, then we highly recommend trying laser. It’s shown to have fantastic results for:

  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinopathies
  • Muscle strains and sprains
  • Muscle and tendon tears
  • Tendonitis
  • Bone damage
  • Nerve damage
  • Arthritic joint pain
  • Traumatic injuries (ie. contact injuries)
  • Chronic injuries (built up over time from the way you use your muscles)

We’ve been using laser treatment for over three years now and have seen it significantly speed up the recovery of hundreds of patients in our clinic. As practitioners, we’re absolutely stoked with the results! Of course, alongside your treatment, we’ll also assess the cause of your injury and make a plan to reduce the risk of it happening again in the future.
