We’re halfway through our school holidays and for many of us, that means we are in need for more activities and ideas! As experts in kids foot health and as great promoters of keeping kids active, we thought we’d put together a few last-minute school holidays ideas you can take advantage of right now!
If you don’t already know, kids under 16 years have FREE entry to Healesville Sanctuary, Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo during the (Victorian government) school holidays! This makes it a fantastic, educational, active and fun (not to mention cost-effective) way to grab the kids and their friends and have a great day out!
We love this one because it’s just as good for parents as it is for kids! Grabbing a picnic and heading to the botanic gardens means that not only can you have a lovely afternoon in the sunshine surrounded by beautiful gardens, but you can also head to the Children’s Garden. They’ve got a series of relaxed activities that will have kids exploring, playing, creating and observing the delights of spring, as well as taking part in nature play activities.
If your kids love skateboarding, or have been wanting to try it, then they’ll love this! This coming Saturday for just $16, they’ll get to paint their own skateboard decks (which are supplied!) using stencils, spray cans, collages and sharpies to create your design. It’s led by an artist that specialises in spray paint art and has exhibited her skateboard artworks in many galleries across Australia. More than a fun and creative day, kids get to meet with others that also love skateboarding and will be encouraged to get on their boards and keep active!
If you’ve got a little ninja warrior at home, this’ll be the perfect day for them! Featuring a bouldering wall, monkey bars and balancing board, kids must crawl, jump, climb and sprint to score the fastest time of the day and win the exciting daily prize giveaway.
And not necessarily your kitchen, either! The Little Chefs cooking classes are back for the school holidays so you can sit back and relax! Master Pastry Chef Ronald and his team provide two hours of fun and cooking and stir up a lifelong passion for home baking in a world of take-out and instant meals.
However you choose to spend this last week of the holidays, we hope it’s filled with lots of fun! If you find your kids unable to participate from any foot and leg pain, let us know and we’ll sort that right out!
